Perfect Peacock for Mother’s Day

I have learned that almost any image can be used for almost any occasion.  Take today’s card.  I discovered a technique and decided to try it out.  I selected Perfect Peacock as my test.  I was so thrilled with the result I finished the card and made it into a Mother’s Day card. Nothing about the Perfect Peacock image necessarily says Mother’s Day but I’m just thrilled with how this card turned out.  Enough babbling, here it is.

Tips and Techniques: Ok, this card is pretty in the picture but even better in person.  I stamped the image using Jet Black Stazon on Vellum.  Yup, that is Vellum there.  I then flipped it over and using a stylus and a piercing mat I outlined all the feathers in the tail as well as parts of the larger flowers and parts of the peacock body.  This gives the image texture as well as the cool white highlights.Stampin Up Perfect Peacock AverysOwlery.com

I colored in the image, also on the backside of the vellum, using markers in these colors: Lost Lagoon, Wild Wasabi, Pacific Point, Garden Green, Tangelo Twist, Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze.  I used a blender pen on the flowers to help smooth out the color transitions on the larger flowers and used the remaining ink on the blender pen to color the smaller flowers.  I layered the vellum over top of a piece of Soft Sky cut to the same size and added pearl accents along with a piece of Soft Sky Seam Binding Ribbon.

I thought the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder (retiring) was a nice compliment to the peacock feathers and used it on a plain piece of Whisper White card stock with the Pistachio Pudding (retiring) card base.    The Happy Mother’s Day stamp is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and fits perfectly in the Word Window Punch. Neither the Teeny Tiny Wishes or the Word Window Punch are retiring this year but if you don’t already have this combination of products I suggest you put it on your wish list.  Teeny Tiny Wishes has 2 dozen phrases and each of them will fit into the Word Window Punch perfectly.  A definite Must Have.
