A Light in the Storm

You know that it is always unfortunately necessary to have sympathy cards on hand.  This past week, a very good friend of my husband’s passed away unexpectedly.  He and his wife were married just shy of 40 years.  I made this card for her, copying it from a video I found on You Tube nearly exactly.

The original version of this card is from Serene Stamper.  Click here to see her video.  I was drawn to the way she did her colors and the sky.  Some of you might be intimidated by this kind of coloring but it really isn’t as hard as it looks. Start lightly adding color and add more gradually.  I followed along with her video nearly step for step.

  1. Like the new look. TFS.

  2. This is beautiful, Lynn. You’re right about sympathy cards – they are hard to make and nice to have on-hand. Love to you and your friend.

  3. You did such a fantastic job! I too just stumbled upon and watched Serene Stampers video this past weekend and loved it! I tried my own version but I like hers and yours so much better. I am going to go back and watch her video again :-). I can’t wait to teach this to my fellow stampers. It’s been a while since I’ve done masking technique and this set is so perfect for it!

    • Thank you so much Kim. I think you just have to practice practice practice. There is another video I found yesterday by Frenchy using this same set but with shades of blue. It is Beautiful

  4. The sky is absolutely beautiful on this card! I haven’t seen the video but will look it up. You did an outstanding job. Your card will bless your friend in her sorrow.
